Job summary

The CXIO provides senior level nursing/AHP expertise and transformational leadership to ensure implementation of the digital plan, whilst ensuring alignment with the nursing and clinical priorities within the organisation. Through structured engagement with nursing, midwifery and AHP colleagues, they facilitate safe, clinically led design and deployment of technologies to optimise care delivery models, enable benefits realisation and support ongoing quality and safety outcomes for patients, citizens and staff. They also work collaboratively with key leaders in engaging a wide range of stakeholders to ensure patient, citizen and other health care representation across the wider health economy.

Main duties of the job

The CXIO drives continuous clinical process improvement focused on patient and clinical outcomes and efficiency and ensures the Trust can effectively contribute to national, regional and local objectives.

In line with national and local standards, the CXIO is also responsible for the clinical safety of systems and processes in the design, testing, implementation, use and optimisation of technology solutions to deliver improvements in quality and patient safety. This includes responsibility for ensuring adherence to a robust governance framework for the review and development of evidenced based nursing and clinical content for the Trust's Electronic Patient Record, clinical systems and new digital health technologies. The CXIO also holds professional responsibility for the management and response to clinically related digital incidents within the Informatics department.

  • Current active registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council or HCPC
  • Master's Degree in health related subject.
  • Management qualification/ Post registration qualification.
  • Digital Clinical Safety Officer training or demonstrable equivalent

Desirable

  • Project management qualification (e.g. PRINCE2)
  • oInformatics/Information Management/Digital Leadership qualification/certification

Experience

Essential

  • Experience of managing and leading across a range of care settings
  • Extensive experience in managing and delivering change successfully.
  • Significant experience and understanding of the value that digital technology and information brings to improving quality of care, outcomes and efficiency.
  • Demonstrates breadth and depth of understanding of current NHS landscape and policy and ability to interpret and implement in clinical practice.
  • Experience of ensuring that patients, staff and the public are engaged as an integral part of transformation programmes and that safety and experience are considered at every stage.
  • Experience in management position at directorate level and above.
  • An ability to apply clinical and technical understanding and knowledge to day to day nursing, clinical and operational practice
