Job summary

Are you ready for a new challenge? Do you want to work for a dynamic and innovative speech and language therapy service, and join #TeamBolton?

We are looking for an experienced, enthusiastic and highly motivated Specialist Speech and Language Therapist to take on this exciting opportunity to work in the Paediatric Speech and Language Therapy service, across our clinic based Assessment and Short Term Intervention Team.

An integral part of this role will be assessing children as part of the social communication and interaction pathway, and therefore a passion for working with children with social communication needs is important. The successful member of staff will be expected to support ADOS assessments within the Trust and therefore prior ADOS-2 training is desired but not essential. This role also includes working within the community clinic team, as well as supporting our Traded Services offer in schools.

We welcome applications from experienced therapists who have a recognised Speech and Language therapy qualification, HCPC licence to practice and RCSLT registration.

The successful applicant will be confident to work independently, have proven team working and communication skills and sound knowledge of assessment tools and therapeutic intervention relating to the caseloads, however specifics around caseloads can be discussed further at interview.

Main duties of the job

If successful, you will join our dedicated team of Paediatric Speech and Language Therapists and Assistants working collaboratively, with a range of professionals. You will be working with children and young people with a range of speech, language and communication difficulties within the Paediatric Speech and Language Therapy service.

You will need to be able to assess children using a wide range of informal and formal assessments; provide verbal and written advice; devise therapy programmes and be able to train parents and staff in different health and educational settings in the implementation of these; and also provide written advice which could be used towards Education and Health Care Plans (EHCPs).

You will therefore need to demonstrate good communication, interpersonal, organisational, time management and prioritisation skills.

About us

We are an innovative team and ensure that individuals have opportunities to develop and contribute, according to their specific talents and interests. There is a clear management and clinical supervision structure in Bolton and peer support is readily available at the main base at Breightmet Health Centre and the secondary base at Great Lever Health Centre.

The Family Care Division aims to deliver the highest standards of care in maternity, sexual health, gynaecology and a range of acute and community children's services.
