Job summary
Ward A4 is a very busy 23 bedded Medical Ward that specialises in Diabetes and Endocrinology in the Acute Adult Care Division.
We are looking for a dynamic , motivated and eager Ward Clerk to join our dedicated team of professionals.
Main duties of the job
You will be required to work 37.5 hours per week over 5 days and have excellent customer service skills and be familiar with the ward environment and etiquette. You also must have excellent communication skills and be able to prioritise your own workload and work within the multidisciplinary team.
As you are the first face that the visitors will see on arrival you must have a polite and courteous disposition.
You will also require to have good computer skills as you will be using the trust's digital systems such as patient management.
You will also be responsible for management of patient records, help facilitate admissions and discharges and book follow on referrals/appointments if necessary.

Duties and Responsibilities Undertake the registration of patients admissions and discharges, appointments andoutcomes on the Patient management system. Request case notes from medical records/file for patients attending on to the ward, locateany missing case notes using tracking skills and knowledge of filing systems. Ensure that health records standards are met at all times adhering to the access to healthrecords policies and that all data is input is in compliance with the data protection act. Arranging/booking of outpatient appointments in accordance with discharge information. Ensure all documents are filed correctly and that case notes are maintained in a neat andorderly state. Plan and prioritise own workload to ensure ward deadlines are met Complete corporate, departmental induction and required IT training.Communication and Client contact. Ensure at all times that patient/client confidentiality is maintained, promoting equality forpatients and others and respecting privacy, dignity, religious and cultural beliefs. Ensure the prompt answering of telephone calls in an efficient, helpful and professionalmanner. Receive and transmit messages either personally, by telephone or email from Patients,G.Ps, staff and other healthcare professionals, to appropriate staff ensuring accuracy. Ensure all necessary information is relayed and display an understanding for the degree ofurgency required. Liaise with medical secretaries, other disciplines and departments to ensure relevantcommunication with regard to patient care is maintained. Adhere to the confidentialitydisclosure.
