Infection Control FFP3 Masks FIT Tester

Job summary

Do you want to support patient and staff safety across NCA by providing essential infection control and PPE/Mask training ?

We are looking for full time substantive PPE / Fit testers to support the PPE and FIT testing Service, set up as part of the Trusts response to the COVID-19 outbreak and sits within the Nursing, Midwifery and AHP Education Dept.

Based across at all hospital locations but would be predominantly based at one of our care organisations - Salford, Oldham or Bury. The service ensures that staff requiring FFP3 mask are fitted with one and understands donning and doffing and the importance of PPE.

The main purpose of this post is to

  • Support the organisation in providing a robust FIT testing service to staff
  • Infection control advice
  • Coaching around FFP3 masks donning and doffing, hand hygiene

Since October 2019, face fit testing for Respiratory Protective Equipment (RPE) has been mandatory under Health and Safety legislation (COSSH). Fit testing has been a critical element of the NHS Covid pandemic response under PHE guidance but has a much wider impact on staff and patient health and safety and wellbeing. The main purpose of this post is to deliver quantitative and qualitative fit testing, RPE maintenance, RPE advice and associated administration, as part of the Trust's RPE resilience programme.

The post holder will report to the Fit Test Co-ordinator.

All training will be provided.

Main duties of the job

The fit tester is a competent confident member of staff who is able to support clinical and non-clinical health care workers to safely use PPE required for contact with patients including those with suspected or confirmed respiratory infections such as COVID-19, influenza and TB other infectious diseases such as Ebola, monkey pox CPE and MRSA The fit testers role is to ensure staff are trained to wear the correct PPE to provide adequate protection against the risk of infection including the risks associated with a procedure or task being undertaken in an infectious clinical work area.
