Job summary
The post holder will be part of a mobile team responsible for supporting endoscope decontamination across all service areas within the Salford Care Organisation (NCA), primarily based at the Decontamination Unit at Salford Royal Hospital and will work as a Decontamination Assistant.
This role is part of a seven-day service and will involve working on a rotational basis, including weekdays, evenings, weekends, and bank holidays.
Unfortunately, this role does not meet the criteria required to qualify for sponsorship.
Main duties of the job
1. Collect and receive used endoscopes into the designated dirty decontamination area, applying standard precautions for infection control and relevant health and safety measures.
2. Manually check and clean used endoscopes in line with local, national and manufacturer's guidelines.
3. Prepare and Load endoscope into Automated Endoscope Reprocessor (AER) and set machine on decontamination cycle.
4. Document and sign confirmation of compliance for each stage of the decontamination process you have undertaken, ensuring that the electronic tracking and traceability system is completed accurately.
5. Monitor decontamination processes and the tracking and traceability system and report any issues or problems.
6. Unload decontaminated endoscopes from AER and prepare for transport or place into the drying cabinets, ensuring traceability system updated accordingly.
7. Comply with the Trust's Health and Safety Policy which outlines your responsibilities regarding Health & Safety at Work.
