Shape the future of infant feeding in Bury

We're seeking a passionate and skilled specialist infant feeding practitioner for an exciting opportunity to forge powerful partnerships. Work directly with our dedicated health visiting teams and innovative family hubs to champion and deliver a vital infant feeding program that will truly make a difference in the lives of families across Bury.

Main duties of the job

Using the advanced skills required, the HV Specialist for Infant Feeding will work in conjunction with the Health Visiting Manager to support further development and to maintain effective working relationships with Maternity and Local Authority Children's Services staff in order to promote responsive infant feeding in accordance with the UNICEF'S Baby Friendly Standards (BFI).

The post holder will:

  • In collaboration with their HV Manager, assist in the development and implementation of infant feeding policies and guidelines that support and improve breast feeding rates
  • Work across a range of settings and organisational boundaries to support staff and volunteers in the community
  • Work closely with the service manager, infant feeding champions and the learning and development department to develop and facilitate infant feeding training
  • Provide a specialist infant feeding resource to support Health Visiting practice
  • Work with Commissioners and Midwifery colleagues to achieve the outcomes of the Infant Feeding contract
  • Be the Health representation at the Infant Feeding Strategy Group Meetings
