Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic, dynamic, and motivated consultant to join our Diabetes and Endocrine team working as an integral part of our multidisciplinary team at Fairfield General Hospital of the Northern Care Alliance NHS Foundation Trust (NCA).

Our team comprises of consultants, junior doctors, nurses and other health care professionals providing a wide range of general and subspecialist diabetic and endocrine treatment and support to the local population, providing seamless care through multidisciplinary team (MDT) working.

Main duties of the job

Opportunities are available in Diabetes and Endocrinology at Fairfield General Hospital for an Consultant Physician who can provide demonstrable expertise in Diabetes and Endocrine Medicine in order to deliver a high-quality independent service.

This is an exciting time for a new Diabetes and Endocrinology Consultant Physician to help develop Services for the local population. The appointee will be expected to work closely with other consultants in the Diabetes and Endocrinology department.

The Department of Diabetes and Endocrinology spans our three Care Organisations and sits with the Directorate of General Internal and Specialist Medicine at Fairfield General Hospital and that will be the Successful applicant's base hospital.

The Northern Care Alliance NHS Foundation Trust provides specialist services across our hospital sites and community setting for the people in the North East sector of Greater Manchester. The Pennine Acute Hospitals have developed into Care Organisations along with Salford Care Organisation. The right candidate will have the opportunity to help lead service developments, research, education and develop clinical leadership across the health and social care system for the people of the North East Sector of Manchester.

Professional Registration

Essential

  • Full registration with the General Medical Council & a valid Licence to Practise with the General Medical Council
  • Hold specialist registration with the GMC Specialist Register in Diabetes and Endocrinology or within six months of obtaining your CCT (or equivalent) at the date of interview.

Desirable

  • Evidence of Accredited Clinical & Educational Supervision of Medical Learners

Qualifications

Essential

  • Primary medical qualification (eg. MBChB)
  • The appointee will hold the MRCP or show evidence of equivalent training and experience.
  • Have completed specialist training in Diabetes and Endocrinology obtaining a CCT or expect to do within 6 months of interview. Full CESR certification will be considered also.

Desirable

  • Attainment or working toward higher degree.

Knowledge, Skills & Experience

  • Working within a health care setting
  • Quality Improvement / Service Development projects

  • Participated in Audits
  • Involved in Governance Matters
