Job summary
The main functions of this post are to carry out mechanical maintenance and repair and related Planned Preventative Maintenance, Breakdown Maintenance and diagnosing and repair of Building and engineering services.
Main duties of the job
- This post requires a person who can fit into a flexible, reactive and demandingdepartment, carrying out a variety of duties of great importance to the Trust.
- You will be required to work alongside other disciplines in the Trust, and it is essential that you are courteous, well-mannered, and professional at all times, and have the ability to communicate well with others.
- Work as a team member with Estates managers to provide mechanical support.
- Liaise with wards and departments on service interruptions and shut downs.

Essential
- Recognised & registered Apprenticeship.
- City & Guilds / NVQ 3 in Mechanical Engineering / Fitting or equivalent
Desirable
- F-Gas Certificate (2079) Gas Engineering Qualification
- Multi-skill qualification i.e., NVQ level 1 or 2 in another trade or a multi-skill qualification
Knowledge, Training & Experience
Essential
- Post qualification of experience working as a Fitter.
- Boiler operators course (training will be provided).
- Legionella management and control (training will be provided).
- Provide own hand tools relevant to trade. Specialist tools provided by the Trust.
- Awareness of Health and Safety in a maintenance environment (training will be provided).
- Experience of using a fall arrest system when working at heights (training will be provided)
- Mobile Elevated Working Platforms (training will be provided)
- nternational Powered Access Federation (IPAF) operator's certificate (training will be provided)
- Lift release (training will be provided).
- Working at Heights (training will be provided).
- Medical gases (training will be provided).
- Category 'A' Asbestos awareness (training will be provided).
- Confined spaces (training will be provided)
- HTM 03 Ventilation (training will be provided).
- HTM 04 Water safety (training will be provided).
- Current full driving licence

- Experience of working in an Acute Hospital/Healthcare environment.
- Knowledge of various Health & Safety Legislation as applicable to core trade

- Experience of working on Steam Systems
