Job summary
We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Principle Database Administrator (DBA) to be part of our database team. Ensuring the optimal performance, security, and reliability of our data systems. In this critical role, you will manage the architecture, deployment, and maintenance of our databases, supporting the data needs of the entire organisation.
As a Principal DBA within the NCA, you will assume a crucial role in the management and optimisation of database infrastructure essential for healthcare operations. Your responsibilities encompass a diverse array of tasks aimed at ensuring the reliability, security, and performance of NCA databases.

Main duties of the job
Your primary responsibility will be to lead the design, implementation, and maintenance of database systems across NCA sites. This includes managing the deployment of database servers, storage systems, and associated infrastructure components, ensuring alignment with NHS standards and industry best practices.
Furthermore, you will be responsible for providing technical leadership and support in diagnosing and resolving database issues and incidents efficiently. Leveraging your extensive experience and expertise in database technologies, you will guide digital team members in identifying root causes and implementing solutions to minimize downtime and disruptions to healthcare services, ensuring optimal system performance.
In addition to providing technical leadership, you will play a key role in implementing advanced security measures to protect database environments and sensitive data. This may involve implementing access controls, encryption technologies, and monitoring systems to mitigate cyber security risks and ensure compliance with NHS security policies and regulations.
