Main duties of the job

If you passionate about making a difference in the lives of individuals living with diabetes then join our innovative team as a Diabetes Specialist Nurse and play a crucial role in transforming healthcare delivery.

In this dynamic position, you will assess, plan, and implement tailored treatment plans for patients with diabetes, ensuring that they receive the best possible care. Your expertise will extend beyond direct patient interactions; you will also develop and deliver specialised education and training to fellow healthcare professionals and caregivers. By sharing your knowledge, you will empower others to excel in diabetes management, contributing to a more informed and effective care environment.

You'll have the opportunity to work across a wide spectrum of services, including our antenatal clinic, young persons' clinic, insulin pump program, and inpatient support services.   • First degree in nursing or an equivalent portfolio of evidence
  • Post basic qualification in diabetes or equivalent portfolio of evidence
  • Recognised teaching qualification
  • Non Medical prescribing or willingness to undertake

Desirable

  • DAFNE educator or willingness to undertake training

Knowlege, skills, training and experience

  • Post registration experience within diabetes specialist nursing
  • Experience in teaching and mentoring learners
  • Evidence of leadership skills
  • Evidence or willingness to working with diabetes technology, i.e. insulin pumps, Continuous Glucose Monitoring systems(CGM ie Libre/Dexcom)
