Job summary

The Trust currently provides Ophthalmology outpatient services at Oldham Integrated care centre, Rochdale Infirmary and Fairfield General Hospital. All day case surgical activity takes place at Rochdale Infirmary. This post requires cross-site working, providing outpatient clinics from different sites and surgical work from mainly Rochdale Infirmary.

The advertised posts will complement a team of 10 Consultants, 4 Associate specialists, 2 speciality doctors and 5 junior clinical fellows.

This appointment 10PAs will be made in accordance with the 2003 Consultant Contract Terms and Conditions.

We are looking for candidates who are/will be on the Specialist Register / Admission to the Register within 6 months of interview (CCST or CCT in Ophthalmology) or willing to complete the CESR within 12 months of employment.

The Job Description indicates the main duties of the post, which may be reviewed in the light of experience and developments within the service. Any review will be undertaken in conjunction with the post holder.

Main duties of the job

Leadership and development of ophthalmic subspecialty work. The post holder will have a broad knowledge of Ophthalmology, including sub-speciality experience and knowledge of Glaucoma in order to complement existing services.
