Job summary
The post holder will join a busy, enthusiastic team providing a mixture of commercial and non-commercial research trials for patients with Inflammatory Bowel Disease, namely Crohn's Disease and Ulcerative Colitis.
The team comprises, Research Nurses, a Research Practitioner, Research Assistant and Clinical Trial Administrator. Our Consultant Gastroenterologist, Professor Limdi has an international / National reputation and we are in the fortunate position of recruiting many of the UK's first patients into Gastroenterology research trials. The job, though demanding is rewarding being able to offer patients the opportunity to participate in novel drug therapies.
Please see the attached detailed job description and responsibilities,. It is advantageous if you have you have knowledge and background in Gastroenterology and good IT skills. You will be expected to screen/attend clinics, attend the Endoscopy department to record patient Colonoscopy's, Sigmoidoscopy's as part of protocol procedures. Training will be given for this.
Main duties of the job
- Develop an expertise in research skills, including set up and delivery of research studies, whether these are academic or commercial.
- Good communication skills, willing to liaise with many professionals for study set up, including members of the multi-disciplinary team and Sponsor representatives.
- Ensure GCP adherence and compliance at all times and be able to follow complex protocols and SOP's (Trust or Sponsor).
- Be meticulous in record keeping, records must be complete have attention to detail and be ready to be audited at any time.
- Good planning and organisational skills is crucial. The post holder must be able to have excellent team working skills and be able to plan their own workload too.
- The Post holder will be expected to deliver the highest standard of patient care. Monitoring patients for safety, adverse events in accordance with the research protocol and NMC code of conduct.
