Job summary

The post holder will report to the Imaging Senior Management team and be responsible for the provision of operational management of Ultrasound Services across the Northern Care Alliance, and expected to manage all elements of Ultrasound including continuity of service delivery across all NCA sites.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the line management of the Clinical Lead sonographers and associated teams of support and administrators and will be required to support the Radiology Senior Management Team in developing the strategic objectives for the Directorate.

Main duties of the job

Responsible for the operational delivery of Ultrasound Services across the NCA,lead and assist the Clinical Lead Sonographers in the delivery of the Ultrasound service and staff individual development needs.

Contribute effectively to the delivery of an efficient and responsive Ultrasound service, by managing the workflow and waiting times across ultrasound services, responsible for meeting internal and wider hospital targets (e.g. 4-hour A&E waiting time).

In collaboration with the Radiology Senior Management Team:

  • develop the operational policies for Ultrasound ensuring standard processes are developed trust wide to realise efficiencies.

  • develop capacity plans for Ultrasound to ensure the Directorate can meet future service demands.

Regularly reviews the performance of each site, discussing trends with the Clinical Lead sonographers and Directorate Managers, providing support and coaching as required.

To lead the initial investigation of all informal and formal complaints for the service, seeking the support of the Directorate Managers or Clinical Leads when required.

Responsible for leading on governance issues in Ultrasound service and instigating the reporting and investigation of untoward incidents and reporting the findings and recommendations to the Directorate management team.
