Job summary

Bury Community Occupational therapy are looking to recruit 1 Part time (22 hrs per week) Band 6 Occupational Therapist to assist in the assessment and treatment of patients in the community who have a wide variety of health needs.

The post holder will participate in the delivery of specialist assessment and rehabilitation programmes to community based patients across a range of acute and long term conditions including Palliative care and Rheumatology.

They will work as part of an interdisciplinary team within the community therapy service.

An ability to travel to different geographical locations across the Trust footprint in line with service needs is required. A full UK driving licence and access theirown vehicle is therefore essential for this community role.

Main duties of the job

  • To work as an autonomous practitioner, to be professionally and legally responsible and accountable for all aspects of work including the management of a varied community caseload.
  • To perform high quality responsive specialist assessment and treatment of Community Patients accessing the Adult Community OT service either in their own homes or other appropriate clinic locations in the community.
  • To be responsible for empowering and enabling patients in the community to manage their condition and develop and meet their goals.
  • To lead on service developments relating to relevant professional areas for development and support with other team initiatives.
  • To provide clinical supervision, as per the team structure for other members of the team. Also, to supervise individual students and undertake the practice educator role and to provide assessment and support to other staff taking students on placement with the service.
