Job summary
An opportunity has arisen for the appointment of a Junior Clinical Fellow within Trauma, Orthopaedics, at Royal Oldham Hospital.
This is a 6-12-month post which will provide an opportunity for the appointee to learn and develop subspecialty-level skill in the management of patients under the care of Orthopaedic.
The successful candidate will be based at The Royal Oldham Hospital with elective lists also based at Fairfield General Hospital and Rochdale Infirmary.
Main duties of the job
It is proposed that the appointee will participate in a 1/9 full shift system which will include outpatient clinics, operating theatre lists, on call and ward cover.
The Royal Oldham Hospital has approximately 75 general / vascular surgical beds. There is an 18 bed critical care facility and a surgical assessment unit containing 8 trolleys. A dedicated emergency theatre has been allocated to general surgery from August 2020.
You are expected to be part of a dynamic team providing high quality care to surgical patients. You will be responsible, under the supervision of the consultant, for the day to day care of elective and emergency patients. You will be expected to participate at level one on call rota for general surgery and cover for authorised absence of colleagues.
You will work and liaise with the colleagues across the multidisciplinary team to ensure an appropriate, professional and timely provision of care to patients.During your post, you will be assigned to both an educational and clinical supervisor and have regular appraisal with help to build your own portfolio. Time will also be allotted to attend local weekly teaching as appropriate. You will be encouraged and expected to participate with other team members in audit and on-going research in the department. Where appropriate you will also be given study leave and you will be able apply for departmental funds for attendance at courses and professional exams.
