Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated and enthusiastic applicant to join our orthoplastic therapy service based at Salford Royal. You will work with a team of Specialist Occupational Therapists and Physiotherapists treating patients with a range of orthoplastic and rheumatology conditions, including care before and after surgery. You will work with members of the wider multidisciplinary team across a variety of clinical areas, including outpatient clinics, inpatients, community settings and patient's homes. The successful applicant will deliver a range of hand therapy, occupational therapy and physiotherapy interventions for a designated caseload under the indirect supervision and guidance of the therapists working in the team.
Candidates who do not initially meet the full criteria for Band 4 will be considered for a Band 3 position with the prospect of progression to Band 4 upon fulfilling the necessary requirements.
Main duties of the job
To work alongside the Hand Therapy team and independently to provide rehabilitation for patients in Orthoplastics, Neurology and Spasticity clinics, engaging with the multidisciplinary team, under guidance and indirect supervision of the therapists.
To work as part of a multi-disciplinary team within the critical care and acute ward settings as well as outpatient settings and to maintain clinical skill and competencies working within both acute and rehabilitation functions of the service.
To take part in the Plastics ward round and follow up on patients, supporting therapy documentation of interventions.
To support thermoplastic splinting interventions and rehabilitation programmes in outpatients and also inpatients settings.
To refer patients to other practitioners when their needs are beyond own role or scope of practice.
