Job summary
Applications are invited for the 1 year post of Neurovascular fellow at Salford Royal Foundation Trust commencing in August 2024. This post is extendable to 2 years depending on intent to undertake endovascular training
The neurosurgical unit in the Manchester Centre for Clinical Neurosciences at Salford Royal Hospital has a busy neurovascular service. This post offers training in the management of the full range of neurovascular disease including the surgical management of cerebral aneurysms, arteriovenous malformations and cerebral revascularization.
Salford Royal Hospital also has a long standing precedent in the endovascular training of neurosurgical fellows. For the appropriate candidate this fellowship will offer the opportunity of dual endovascular and microsurgical training.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will work as part of the multi-disciplinary neurovascular team consisting of 4 neurosurgeons, 4 interventional Neuroradiologists, 2 specialist neurovascular nurses and a clinical co-ordinator. There will also be involvement in general neurosurgery and a 1:11 on call as the second on call registrar (resident full shift rota) with a junior registrar as first on call.
The post is suitable for senior neurosurgical trainees or junior consultants with a clear and demonstrable interest in neurovascular surgery. For the opportunity of dual endovascular training the candidate should have genuine prospects of being able to take up a hybrid consultant (or equivalent for international applicants) post following the fellowship.
The post would be suitable for the final year of training or those who have recently been awarded CST / CESR.
