Job summary
The NCA is delighted to offer posts for motivated and positive individuals to join our Maternity Team as Maternity Support Workers.
Our Maternity Support Workers work within all clinical areas (Antenatal Clinic and Day Unit, Community, Birth Centre, Labour Ward, Maternity Triage, Antenatal Ward and Postnatal Ward) and are key members of our multi-disciplinary team.
As a Maternity Support Worker you'll support our midwifery team to provide high quality clinical care to women, birthing people and families.
We offer a robust training programme which will support you to develop the clinical skills and knowledge you'll need to succeed in this role.
Main duties of the job
Undertake the role of caring for a group of women and babies through indirect and direct supervision by registered midwives to aid in the delivery of all aspect of care in a safe and timely manner.
Carries out clinical duties in accordance with the Northern Care Alliance NHS Trust local standards and policies. This may include, but is not limited to, undertaking maternal observations, phlebotomy, cannulation, removal of female urethral catheters, monitoring of blood glucose via finger prick for adults and heelprick for neonates, undertake neonatal observations and obtain via heelprick.
Document all care provided on the appropriate patient record and ensure any deviations from the normal course are escalated in a timely manner to the registered professional.
