Job summary
We are looking for a dynamic and motivated individual to join the Complex Spinal Surgery service, part of Salford Care Organisation, as a full-time Consultant Spinal Surgeon for 12 months (locum).
The successful applicant will join an existing team of surgeons and associated disciplines that provide this important tertiary service serving Greater Manchester's patient population. The service has a track record of delivering high quality surgical care and advice, and growth in demand has created the requirement for expansion within the team.
The Spinal service is supported by a strong team of surgeons, junior and middle grade medical posts, advanced practitioners, consultant physiotherapists , AHPs and administrative support,
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will undertake unsupervised elective operating, injection lists and outpatient clinics to support the service's waiting list reduction needs. The post will also include operating on patients admitted as an emergency to the hospital via the Spine Urgency list between Monday and Friday. Aside from these commitments, the role will also include MDT attendance, undertaking patient-related administrative work and reviewing inpatients on the wards.
