The post holder will provide visible clinical leadership within our adult community teams and provide direction for staff to maintain high clinical standards of care. The successful candidate will also support with the implementation of clinical and quality service improvements and the Community Assessment and Accreditation Scheme (CAAS) across all community teams

Quality Matrons are instrumental in promoting high standards of clinical care, reducing health inequalities, and promoting equality for all, workforce retention and recruitment, staff education and development, compassionate, inclusive leadership and patient safety.

Main duties of the job

The role of the Quality Matron will provide support and guidance, to the wards/departments/community teams with a focus' on 6 main themes: -

  • Providing a clean environment
  • Ensuring best practice in Infection prevention
  • Improving clinical care standards
  • Treating patients with dignity and respect
  • Providing clinical areas with senior nurse leadership during working hours
  • Ensuring all quality improvement is implemented and improved.

Job responsibilities

  • Conduct regular review of all wards/departments/community venues where clinical care is delivered eg treatment rooms alongside the team lead/nurse in charge on duty to check the environment is of a high standard and clean. Allow patients and visitors the opportunity to discuss their views or concerns.
  • Monitor cleaning standards, both formally with Facilities/building management and informally with the community teams.
  • Participate in the PLACE assessments, ensuring that all actions are carried out in a timely way.
  • Working with the governance manager and team leads/ward managers ensure that appropriate Health and Safety risk assessments and audits are conducted and acted upon.
  • Work with the team/wards to ensure team Governance boards are up to date and presentable.
  • Support the implementation of the Nursing Assessment and Accreditation System (NAAS), Community Assessment and Accreditation System (CAAS), TAAS, OPAAS, striving for all teams to be a SCAPE (Safe, Clean & Personal Every time) team within 2 years.
  • Ensure all actions arising from the NAAS, CAAS, TAAS, OPAAS are communicated and acted upon.
  • Supporting the clinical teams and ensuring sustainability.
  • Ensure vulnerable patients are identified and appropriate safeguards put in place.
  • Ensure the results of patient and staff surveys are communicated and acted upon, and action plans developed.
