Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Community Assessment Officer/ Rehabilitation Officer- Visual Impairment (ROVI) Apprenticeship within the Sensory Team in Salford.
The Sensory Team is part of the Community Learning Disability, Sensory and Transition Service, which is a truly integrated service where you are based together with a Rehabilitation Officer- Visual Impairment, who would act as the successful candidates Mentor, a Deafblind Assessor,a Communicator Guide, Social Workers, Community Assessment Officers, Community Nurses and Allied Health Professionals.
The successful candidate will be based within the Sensory Team and will be employed as a Community Assessment Officer/ Rehabilitation Officer- Visual Impairment (ROVI) Apprentice on a full-time fixed term contract whilst they complete their 2-year apprenticeship course and off the job training with Birmingham City University.
Following successful completion of the apprenticeship course, the candidate will then be employed as a Rehabilitation Officer- Visual Impairment within the Sensory Team on a permanent full-time contract.
The Community Assessment Officer/ Rehabilitation Officer- Visual Impairment (ROVI) Apprenticeship has a salary of £27,852 - £30,151, and upon successful completion of the apprenticeship course, the salary for a Rehabilitation Officer- Visual Impairment is £32,909 - £35,411.
Main duties of the job
The Community Assessment Officer/ Rehabilitation Officer- Visual Impairment (ROVI) Apprenticeship will be covered through a mix of on the job, and off the job training.
To satisfy the off-job training requirements of the apprenticeship course, the apprentice will need to apply to join the Birmingham City University Rehabilitation Worker Apprenticeship/ FdSc Rehabilitation Work (VI).
The 2-year course will start in September 2023 and the Community Assessment Officer/ Rehabilitation Officer- Visual Impairment (ROVI) Apprentice will need to apply by mid-May 2023 to allow sufficient time for the employer (Sensory Team in Salford) and apprentice on-boarding process between June and August 2023. This time is required to ensure compliance with the Education Skills Funding Agency (ESFA).
The apprenticeship course is a way of training the next generation of Rehabilitation Officer- Visual Impairment practitioners. The successful candidate will have a dedicated workplace mentor within the Sensory Team, who is a qualified Rehabilitation Officer- Visual Impairment, and as part of the apprenticeship course will be required to attend seven block learning weeks in Birmingham. These are spread throughout each of the two academic years.
