Undertake a significant clinical caseload to an advanced professional standard using specialist knowledge from theoretical and practical experience.
- Develop an extended scope of practice in the speciality
- Triage referrals either independently or with medical colleagues and make onward referrals.
- Support redesign of the flow of patient referrals from Primary care to secondary care.
This is an exciting time to join our growing team of advanced practitioners and Trainee Advanced practitioners, as we transition into the purpose-built Surgical Triage Unit in the Greater Manchester Trauma Hospital (GMMTH) based on and part of the Salford Care Organisation site due to open in January 2024, housing acute and high risk emergency general surgery, and Major Trauma.
Main duties of the job
The role is an advanced clinical practitioner in emergency general and urological surgery based on STU working across ambulatory area, General Wards and the Emergency Department to review and assess patients as required. The post holder will take a lead role in the advanced clinical assessment and treatment of a diverse and undetermined caseload of patients, who may have highly complex acute and/or chronic presentation. They will determine clinical diagnosis and treatments indicated, and maintain records as an autonomous practitioner. The post holder will provide clinical expertise for developing and enhancing the service. This will be done in collaboration with healthcare colleagues. They will ensure that evidence based practice is inherent in all aspects of care and treatment and ensure this knowledge is disseminated throughout the clinical area, Trust and externally as appropriate.
