Job summary
This post is being offered as an up to 10 PA post, with Less Than Full Time Working (LTFTW) considered from all applicants.
An indicative job plan is provided, though the exact job plan will be agreed between the NCA and the post holder on commencement. This post is based out of the Community Divisional Business Unit and will focus on community practice though the postholder will have opportunity to work with a wider MDT and in an Acute setting at the Royal Oldham Hospital. The post holder will enjoy a generous 2.0 PA SPA allowance.
There are currently no on-call or out-of-hour duties associated with this post, but this may be reviewed in future as the Trust establishes a 7-day Specialist Palliative and End of Life Care service across sites.
The Community Consultant will be expected to contribute to discussions about patients from all areas, but particularly those patients presently part of the Community Specialist Palliative Care caseload.
Mentorship- All newly appointed Consultants will be offered a mentorship opportunity, which will be agreed with the post holder on appointment. Within Palliative Medicine, this is supported by the Lead Clinician, but also includes opportunities for supervision with consultants in other disciplines. There is also the opportunity of participating in the NHS Northwest Leadership Academy's Mentoring Scheme. This will be discussed and agreed with the Community Consultant on appointment.
Main duties of the job
We are looking to appoint a consultant in Palliative Medicine to work primarily in our Community Services division either on a Full Time or Part Time basis.
This permanent post will be an integral part of a newly developed and exciting community specialist palliative care model that has already attracted national interest.
The role offers an excellent opportunity to influence palliative and end of life care provision, and to make a meaningful difference to people at the end of their life and their loved ones.
