Job summary
We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated band 7 Highly Specialist Nurse with good clinical and leadership experience to provide expert nursing care in Dermatological Surgery and the diagnosis and management of skin lesions as part of our multi-disciplinary skin cancer team. We are happy to also consider allocation from enthusiastic and motivated band 6 Dermatology specialist nurse with some experience in surgical procedures and skin lesions who will be supported by an amazing Dermatology team to develop to the band 7 role. The successful candidate will be required to support acne clinics and general dermatology
The Trust provides secondary and intermediate care Dermatology services at several sites throughout Greater Manchester. Ideally you will be educated to or working towards an MSc, you will be able to provide evidence of both nursing leadership and clinical nursing skills. You will undertake independent surgical lists for the treatment and diagnosis of skin cancer. You will also assess new and follow up patients referred for skin cancer management as part of the multidisciplinary team.
You should be passionate about delivering and developing a high-quality service to patients within the service and be driven by the desire to improve services. You will be given the full support of the senior nursing, medical and service teams and will be given the opportunity to continue your career development within the post.
Main duties of the job
This Specialist Nurse is a qualified practitioner who will assist in patient care daily within the multidisciplinary dermatology team within The Salford Dermatology service working collaboratively and supporting other Dermatological colleagues within the Trust
You will work alongside the medical, nursing and consultant colleagues sharing responsibility for the case management of their patients and for ensuring all care is delivered according to Trust policies, procedures and maintaining associated records.
You will support a team of nurses in the delivery of evidence-based patient centred care, which is of a highest standard. You will provide specialist advice to patient's relatives and members of the multidisciplinary team utilising clinical audit, research, supervision of practice and teaching.
You will also monitor and improve standards of care by efficient and effective use of resources. The post will provide clinical leadership and advice within the Salford Dermatology Service, enabling the service to develop further by providing expert advice, education and support to staff and enhanced clinical intervention.
