Job summary

The Risk Manager role has been developed to off an exciting opportunity to provide guidance and support to the Care Organisation Governance Managers, Associate Directors of Governance and the Associate Director of Patient Safety in the delivery of high quality, patient and staff centred risk management across the Northern Care Alliance. The post holder will work closely with key stakeholders to ensure development and delivery of key risk management and patient safety standards including leading on change projects initiated by the Trust to drive quality and safety standards.

Main duties of the job

The Risk Manager will ensure risks are managed by developing and embedding effective risk strategy and policy across the Trust, working closely with the Care Organisation Governance teams to ensure Trust-wide learning from incidents, inquests, claims and complaints is co-coordinated and fully embedded in to practice.

Job responsibilities

The Risk Manager will take the strategic lead for the successful ongoing development of the Trusts Electronic Risk Management System (e-RMS) and manage the operational e-RMS management team on a day-to-day basis.

The Risk Manager will support in the continuing development of the Risk Policy and Implementation Strategy to ensure compliance and maintenance of the Care Quality Commission Fundamental Standards, working closely with the Associate Director of Compliance.

The Risk Manager will support in the development of enhanced risk management systems across the organisation.

The Risk Manager will work with NCA Governance Leads to develop learning needs analyses to mitigate and eliminate risk through regimented training and system redesign.

The Risk Manager will deliver risk management training to all levels of staff as required.

The Risk Manager will support with investigations where applicable for high level Care Organisation and/or highly complex systematic incidents.

The Risk Manager will support the Head of Legal Services where required in dealing NHS Litigation Authority and HM Coroners Services to ensure all relevant information is available where required.

The post holder will work closely with, and deputise for, the Head of Risk Management. The role will be largely self-directed. Leadership on policy development, together with responsibility for the establishment of relevant policies will play a key role within the post. Appropriate knowledge skills and experience are essential attributes.
