Job summary
The post is for a maximum of twenty four months within the Anaesthetic Department at Salford Royal Foundation Trust. The successful candidate will work as a member of the multidisciplinary team of trainee medical staff. They will work together with consultants and occasionally more junior anaesthetic trainees in theatre, in the emergency department, the MR suite and anywhere anaesthesia expertise is required. You will be given responsibilities for patient care commensurate with your level of experience and training and will be provided with adequate supervision and support throughout your placement to enable you to develop and meet the objectives set out in your personal development plan.
Main duties of the job
The post is suitable for an anaesthetist with a minimum of 6 years post graduate anaesthetic experience (ST 7 equivalent) and in possession of the final FRCA qualification or equivalent.
The successful candidate will be placed on appropriate training lists with consultants. After an introductory period, the appointed graduate would be expected to manage some cases in theatre as the lead anaesthetist with distant supervision from a supervising consultant, in order to gain experience and confidence in managing cases independently.
The successful candidate will work an up to 48 hours a week contract and will be expected to work flexibly - this may include 3 session theatre days and working weekends on the trauma rota. This rota will not exceed a planned frequency of 1:12.
The appointee will be encouraged and expected to undertake audit and quality improvement projects, as well as to attend clinical governance meetings, mortality and morbidity meetings, regional and national educational meetings. Research activity is encouraged. You will be allocated a personal educational supervisor shortly after commencement in the post to support your development.
