Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated qualified anaesthesia associate(s) to join the Northern Care Alliance anaesthetic departments based at Salford Care Organisation (SCO) or Oldham Care Organisation. With the option of tailing a job plan over more than one site depending on the skills and interests of applicants.
The position would be suitable for a newly qualified or experienced AA. The ideal candidate will have an interest in teaching and either be experienced in advanced skills which may include regional anaesthesia and sedation or have a willingness to learn.
There is an established team of 7 qualified Anaesthesia Associates based at Salford Care Organisation who would be able to support and mentor new colleagues. We currently have 6 student Anaesthesia Associates in their first year of training, working across the NCA. The department is committed to developing the AA team, supporting CPD and integrating dedicated SPA time into job plans.
Work includes supporting emergency services such as trauma, general, neuro and spinal urgency. Elective surgery includes general, orthopaedics, plastics gynaecology, urology, and ENT. You must be willing to work cross-site with a base site and job plan agreed with the appointee.
The right experienced candidate with advanced skills will be appointed at Band 8a. A newly qualified Anaesthesia Associate will be appointed at Band 7.
Main duties of the job
- The successful candidate will above all be a dynamic and proactive member of the AA team and anaesthetic department.
- You will undertake thorough pre-operative assessment, develop and implement appropriate anaesthetic management.
- You will provide or train in advanced skills, which may include peripheral nerve blocks, spinal anaesthesia and sedation.
- Contribute to teaching, training, mentorship and development of junior colleagues and trainee AAs.
- Provide evidence-based care for patients within a multidisciplinary team.
