Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a part-time, motivated, dynamic and passionate Occupational Therapist to join the Floyd Intermediate Neurorehabilitation Unit situated in Rochdale.
This is an 18 bedded, Level 2 post-acute neurorehabilitation unit. It is operationally and professionally managed and supported by the Manchester Centre for Neurosciences (MCCN) directorate of Salford Care Organisation, providing strong and supportive links with the wider acute and post acute Neurorehabilitation services based at Salford Royal Hospital.
This is an attractive part-time post, with direct clinical support being provided by the wider experienced OT team made up of Band 6, 7 and 8a Occupational Therapists. Whilst experience of working in a neuro specialty at Band 6 level is desirable, we would welcome applicants at Band 5 level who are passionate about developing their experience in Neurorehabilitation.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will provide specialist, individualised Occupational Therapy services to adults admitted with a range of neurological conditions.
The role involves clinical, leadership and educational opportunities to develop outstanding evidence-based practice in the Occupational Therapy (OT) management of patients with neurological conditions.
Excellent communication skills will be required to liaise effectively with treating clinicians, the patient, their family members, community services and support networks throughout the patient pathway.
The post holder will work with the wider in-patient Neuro OT team to embrace innovations and provide continuous improvements to ensure high quality evidenced based care.
They will provide training and development support to apprentice and student OT's, rehab support workers and other members of the MDT.
They will assume responsibility for the day to day management of the clinical area in the absence of the Band 7 Team Leader.
