Job summary

To provide an efficient and high quality ultrasound imaging service, whilst dealing with patients in a caring professional manner.

Ensure there is adequate service provision in place at all times. Plan the Ultrasound service to meet the demands of the trust.

To address capacity and demand and liaise with the Ultrasound Service Manager on service improvement and development.

Main duties of the job

  • As a key member of the ultrasound team, working closely with the Ultrasound Service Manager and Directorate Managers, you are responsible for leading both clinically and managerially, the ultrasound service to help deliver a high-quality patient focused service.
  • To lead on Quality Improvement projects and programmes by working collaboratively with all teams.
  • Working with the management team, ensure key performance targets are delivered and meet the Service Line Accreditation and Assessment Standards.
  • To continuously review ultrasound services through the lens of improving performance to reach a sustainable or improved profitable state, whilst continuing to deliver truly effective patient-centred care.
  • To provide operational leadership to the ultrasound department to ensure effective and timely delivery of performance indicators and drive operational excellence, supporting the delivery of a High-Performance Management System.
  • Responsible for the efficient and effective use of resources including development of robust recovery planning where deviation occurs.
  • To develop shared objectives promoting a culture of collaborative working and empowering staff.
  • To demonstrate excellent people management skills to inspire and motivate.
  • To adhere to the CO/NCA policies, processes and ways of working to contribute to the achievement of the NCA strategies.

  • Post Graduate Master/ Diploma/Certificate in Medical Ultrasound
  • BSc in Diagnostic Radiography or equivalent qualification
  • Valid HCPC registration or equivalent
  • Society of Radiographers (SOR) or equivalent registration

Knowledge, skills, training and experience

Essential

  • Evidence of continuing professional development
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Significant post PG qualification experience

Desirable

  • Evidence of previous supervisory/ management experience
  • Evidence of multi-modality knowledge
