The Urgent Treatment Centre is looking to recruit a full or part time Sister/Charge Nurse. As Shift Coordinator you will need to have proven leadership skills and the ability to work in a fast paced environment. A genuine desire to work in an emergency/urgent care setting is required. Every day is different presenting a range of challenges that are worked through to ensure the best possible outcomes for our patients.
The Urgent Treatment Centre based at Rochdale Infirmary offers a service for adults and children requiring assessment and management of minor injury and or minor illness. With over 50,000 attendances annually and one third of these service users are children.
The team in UTC are multidisciplinary; Advanced Clinical Practitioners and Emergency Practitioners working along side General Practitioners, Emergency Consultants and a team of Registered Nurses, Associate Nurses and Healthcare Support workers.
The team are diverse in their experience and skills that they can share with you. Amongst our team we have qualified paramedics and both adult and children's nurses practising in an advanced capacity.Development of staff is a key focus for us and this is achieved with the support and guidance from our in house dedicated practise based educator
Main duties of the job
Support the Lead Nurse & the team in the day-to-day operational management and coordination of the Urgent Treatment Centre.
Establish and maintain effective communication with patient/carers and families about complex matters providing a warm welcoming and enabling environment to support therapeutic relationships
Develop specialist knowledge, in area of practise, underpinned by theory
Assess, plan, implement and evaluate the effectiveness of nursing care and adjust the programmes of care where indicated along with maintaining the health, safety and security of self and others in own work area
Contribute to the development of services
Contribute to quality improvement
Support patients, carers and staffs equality, diversity and rights
Lead others in the development of knowledge, ideas and work practice
Plan, allocate, assess and provide feedback to team members
Maintain and support the efficient use of physical and /or financial resources
You will practice in accordance with the professional, ethical and legal framework for nursing
