Job summary
We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated band 6 Paediatric Nurse committed to providing quality nursing care in line with the Northern Care Alliance Trust Values.
The team provides Nursing care and family support to children with Chronic and Complex Needs, Palliative Care and Long term ventilated as well as Acute Nursing needs.
The team is committed to empowering children and their families to develop the knowledge, skills, and expertise to enable them to become self-caring, independent in their own home. You will need to demonstrate drive, commitment and a strong sense of leadership and teamwork including coordinating shifts .
The successful candidate will be provided with an individualised and structured orientation programme with support from the CCN Clinical Practice development Lead You will be provided with learning and development opportunities within a supportive environment to develop leadership skills with the possible opportunity to obtain the Advance clinical skills qualification in the future.
Main duties of the job
Competent in a variety of clinical skills including:
- Preparing / administering Intravenous injections and infusions including chemotherapy, Total Parental Nutrition, accessing centrals lines.
- Undertake wound/ burns dressings, gastrostomy insertion, Nasogastric tube insertion, ventilator support, tracheostomy care, nutritional care and seizure management.
Assessing, delivering, and evaluating complex planned programmes of care to meet the patient's and their carer's needs.
To act as the team's coordinator in the absence of a Team Leader
To effectively communicate complex and sensitive information to staff and families on the caseload.
Actively engage complex information in multi-disciplinary activities such as case conferences, care planning meetings and maintain close liaison with clients.
To act as a role model and support professional development of all students and junior staff, including the line management of staff.
Actively teaching and mentoring pre and post basic learners and unregistered staff.
