Healthcare Support Worker - Oasis Unit

Job summary

The Oasis unit is a ten bedded medical ward for patients who require hospital treatment, and who also have dementia or a cognitive impairment. The ward is staffed by two registered nurses and two healthcare support workers.

All posts are rotational and you will be required to work days/ nights/ weekends and Bank Holidays.

Main duties of the job

To support patients with all aspects of daily living, including washing, dressing and toileting. Assisting patients with meaningful activities as part of distraction and reminiscence therapy.Supporting patients with mobility, including moving and handling and use of equipment. Maintaining positional changes and skin integrity. Helping with eating and drinking, completing fluid balance and food diaries, social activities, emotional and wellbeing support. Completing safety checks on equipment, cleaning equipment General house keeping and maintaining a clean and safe ward environment. Completing relevant paperwork to a high standard.

You will work as part of a Multi-Disciplinary Team including Nursing staff, Doctors, activities co-ordinator, physio and OT. You will be required to follow care plans and keep records of evaluations/outcomes throughout your shift.

General Housekeeping duties - keeping the environment safe and free from clutter.
