Formally established in 2021, the Northern Care Alliance NHS FT (NCA) is one ofthe largest NHS providers in England,employing around20,000 colleagues and serving a diverse population of around 1 million people across theNorth part ofGreater Manchester.

Main duties of the job
Radiology, Pathology and Pharmacy services across the NCA are managed under the Diagnostics and Pharmacy care organisation (D&P), supporting the place-based care organisations as well as providing Pathology services to Wrightington, Wigan and Leigh NHS Foundation Trust via a joint venture, community services such as our GP pharmacists and across numerous other healthcare settings.
D&P has ambitious, strategic plans in terms of aligning, strengthening and empowering D&P services across the NCA. D&P employs around 1,800 diverse and highly skilled colleagues with responsibility for the delivery of diagnostic services alongside place-based clinical teams, as well as ensuring high standards of medicines management safety.
Within the D&P Care Organisation there is a leadership team of directors who have clear accountability and authority to manage the day to day running of D&P services across the NCA, enabling the safe delivery of high-quality care and ensuring that patients, no matter where they are treated, experience a consistently high standard of care.

The D&P senior leadership team consists of a Chief Officer / Director of Operations, Medical Director, Director of Pharmacy, Director of Quality and Safety, HR Director and a Finance Director. This operational management model helps strengthen and improve senior leadership support for the teams delivering the services and care to patients.

You will work with the Director of Quality and Safety to drive quality improvement and ensure quality governance is a key part of the everyday within D&P services.
You will be a full and active member of the leadership team and contribute to medical leadership across the wider Northern Care Alliance. The Medical Director role is a demanding but exciting role and we will discuss with the successful candidate the amount of clinical activity they wish to maintain.
