Job summary

This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic, compassionate forward thinking leader to develop their midwifery career in a busy tertiary level maternity unit which provides care to a diverse population. Working closely with the recently expanded senior maternity team you will lead a person centred inpatient service utilising quality improvement methodology to take the next steps along the maternity improvement programme which is well underway here at the Royal Oldham Hospital

Main duties of the job

To provide professional leadership for midwifery ensuring that safe and effective quality of care is delivered within the resources available while ensuring that the care environment is organised to meet the needs of the patient enhancing their experience and supporting staff to meet the Divisional and Trust objectives through:

  • The provision of visible, authoritative professional leadership support and direction for midwifery and by ensuring standards of practice and care are set and maintained
  • Ensuring that safe, high quality clinical services are delivered in line with the national policy, Trust priorities, available evidence and patient care needs
  • Lead programmes of improvement work related to avoidable harm and to support the delivery of the Trust and directorate clinical governance priorities and associated work programmes
  • Working with Directorate Teams to optimise safe, compassionate, woman and family centred care is measured by clinical outcomes and women and families experiences
  • Working with Directorate Teams to optimise through service and workforce productivity, efficiency and effectiveness

you will support in the senior midwifery leadership out of hours on call rota offering support and robust escalation to the Midwifery team in the unit.
