Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for part time Ward Clerk on The Surgical Triage Unit (which be based in the GMMTH from October 23).

We are looking for an enthusiastic and committed individual with excellent communication skills with the ability to prioritise your own workload.

Main duties of the job

  1. Act as ward Receptionist and greet patients and visitors, including those with communication difficulties, on arrival to the ward in accordance with Trust standards and expectations.
  2. Ensure that patients are shown to designated waiting areas and given information packs and/or leaflets where applicable.
  3. Receive messages in person, by telephone, e-mail or letter and respond appropriately.
  4. Ensure that patient's notes and other documentation are prepared and managed confidentially
  5. Take responsibility for accurate data entry and retrieval via computer e.g, Patient centre, Casenote tracking, and other systems.
  6. Ensure that discharged patient notes are returned promptly to appropriate secretaries or medical records department, including case note tracking.
  7. Arrange follow-up appointments if required.
  8. Ensure that patient admission documentation is maintained appropriately and that a record is kept of clinical activity, as required.
  9. Ensure that stationery/supplies are ordered as necessary.
  10. Ensure that patient's notes are made available prior to admission.
  11. Ensure that information is relayed appropriately to the multi-professional and/or multiagency teams to ensure the safe discharge and follow-up of patients.
  12. Report/requisition broken or faulty equipment and furnishings within the ward/department
