Job summary
Always wanted to work with children? if so then this is the ideal opportunity for you.
Due to further expansion in our Paediatric Therapy Team, we have a vacancy in our band 5 physiotherapy rotation. This is a 6 monthly rotation programme and you will have the opportunity to work in:
- The complex needs team, seeing children from 1-19, with a range of physical, neurological and genetic conditions that affect their ability to move around independently;
- The Musculoskeletal team, treating children with acute and acquired MSK injuries and non acute post surgical rehabilitation;
- The community Therapy teams working with children from 0-18 with a range of conditions, including developmental delay, Talipes, Torticollis, gait and mobility issues and neurological and genetic conditions; within their homes, nurseries, schools and clinic.
In all rotations you will be supported by Band 6 and 7 Physiotherapists and work closely with assistants and Occupational Therapists in addition to the wider MDT.
The increased investment into the team in addition to a move to working under a Thrive model of care has enabled more hands on therapy for those children that require it, both individually and in groups. This is in addition to development of resources and training to support families and professionals to understand the children and young people's physical development needs; and provide more support at the universal and targeted levels.
Main duties of the job
Working as part of the Paediatric Therapy Team, you will provide physiotherapy interventions to children in Salford with the aim of maximising their physical abilities to engage in meaningful every day activities.
You will:
-deliver physiotherapy assessment, advice and treatment to children with a range of physical difficulties and disabilities.
-assess and treat your own caseload of patients and maintain your own records as an autonomous practitioner with support and supervision of more senior members of the team.
- work together with other teams and agencies, parents and children, sharing information regarding therapy and outcomes and supporting the young persons overall outcomes, whilst ensuring their safety at all times.
Working in a variety of clinical settings across Salford, you will have the opportunity to work alongside members of the Paediatric Therapy Team and other health and social care professionals. Working through a competency framework,as your knowledge, experience and confidence develops in the area of paediatric physiotherapy, more challenges, complex caseloads and autonomous working will be introduced to develop your skills further, preparing you for your next stage in your career.
