Job summary
Applications are invited for a Locum community paediatrician to cover maternity leave for a 12 month period. You will join our team of Community paediatricians at Salford Care organisation, who work together to provide community paediatric Services for Salford Children.
Paediatric outpatient clinics are held in newly built health and social care centres across Salford in Walkden, Eccles, Swinton and Pendleton Gateways as well as purpose built health suites in two schools for children with Special Educational Needs. The community paediatricians, supported by specialty trainees and associate specialist doctors provide specialist community paediatric services across the city. Referrals come from various sources including the city wide neurodevelopmental pathway, GPs, health visitors, school nurses, education staff and social care. Referrals are concerning children's growth, continence, and behaviour including ADHD, social communication disorders, neurodevelopmental problems, language disorders, disability and complex needs, education and social needs. The Community Paediatricians have district wide responsibility in their area of special expertise (including neurodisability, safeguarding, looked after children, epilepsy and complex disability) and cover a geographical patch of the city. The post holder will provide community paediatric care in sites across the city and contribute to the ongoing development of a the neurodevelopmental pathway for Salford.
Main duties of the job
The post holder/s will deliver community paediatric clinics and child protection clinics, take part in the multidisciplinary assessment and management of children with neurodevelopmental conditions and contribute to the development of a recently established neurodevelopmental pathway. Applicants with areas of specialist interest are welcomed.
There is flexible clinical time which can include multi-disciplinary work plus there is additional clinical administration time.
Salford Care Organisation will be the employer for the appointment and will issue the contract of employment.
There locum post is for 8Pas and for a period of 1 year. Modification of the job content will be discussed on a personal basis in consultation with consultant colleagues
