Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated and innovative person to join our AHP department as the Operational and Professional Lead for Physiotherapy. This post covers a range of specialist Physiotherapy teams working across the hospital site and outpatients. The role crosses all divisions within SCO, although the departments sit within the division of Tertiary Medicine. Due to the number of speciality areas the successful candidate should be able to demonstrate a breadth of transferable skills, with excellent organisational, communication and interpersonal skills. You will gain experience of working in a busy and changing environment where there is a proactive approach to evidence-based practice, service development and continuing professional development.

The successful candidate will work closely with the Occupational Therapy Operational Lead as there is crossover within teams and this working relationship builds resilience across therapy services.

Main duties of the job

  • To operationally manage teams of therapists, therapy assistants and support staff
  • To effectively manage allocated budgets
  • To communicate service-related information to senior management stakeholders and patients by both formal and informal mechanisms
  • To provide advanced clinical input and leadership to a range of topics according to NCA/SCO priorities.
  • To be integral in future development of the Physiotherapy Service
  • To act in a clinically autonomous way to develop, lead and implement appropriate therapy pathways and services
  • To act in the patient's/service's best interest
  • To lead the therapy teams in decision-making and prioritising client care to support flow
  • To provide a visible and accessible point of contact for patients, carers and key stakeholders, ensuring high standards of individual patient care
  • Provide cover for the Senior Manager for AHPs as necessary

Knowledge/experience

Essential

  • Highly developed specialist knowledge/experience/training to Masters level or equivalent.
  • Evidence of CPD in the form of a detailed personal development portfolio.
  • Substantial post graduate experience
  • Extensive experience including a substantial amount of time within a Team leader role.
  • Knowledge of budgetary and finance issues
  • Ability to manage designated team, setting appraisal and performance targets for staff.
  • Good working knowledge of clinical governance including quality, audit and risk management.
  • Understanding of relationships between health and partner organisations.
