Job summary
We are looking for a dynamic and enthusiastic professional with the necessary experience and qualifications to develop and drive forward the newly created hub and spoke model of ultrasound training delivery.
In collaboration with the University of Salford (UoS) Head of Radiography at the Ultrasound Hub, Northern Care Alliance (NCA) Radiography Academy Clinical Lead and the NCA Director of Strategy (Imaging) you are responsible for the provision of and output from the Radiography Ultrasound Hub and Spokes based at the UoS and NCA and liaison with the Manchester Foundation Trust (MFT) spoke.
In conjunction with the UoS hub, you will be expected to work with the current team of academics to develop the ultrasound training programme and CPD events and will be expected to push the boundaries of current limitations in that field. Reporting to the NCA Ultrasound Service Manager they would also be expected to have a clinical aspect to their role including clinical ultrasound sessions, leading a team of sonographers working at the UoS ultrasound hub, and assist the team at UoS promoting ultrasound role at undergraduate and postgraduate levels by undertaking mentoring, multidisciplinary teaching and lecturing.
Main duties of the job
You will be expected to:
- Be responsible for the development of the ultrasound service with the team at UoS in relation to patients at the NCA spoke.
- Be responsible for raising the profile of the Ultrasound Academy Hub and spokes, working in conjunction with colleagues in the University of Cumbria.
- Lead in management and organisation of trainee sonographers in relation to NCA patients, in conjunction with the UoS.
- Develop clinical policies for the UoS ultrasound provision, ensuring standard processes are embedded across the hub and spokes to realise efficiencies.
- Act as an expert practitioner in ultrasound.
- Undertake regular clinical ultrasound sessions at the UoS as part of the clinical workload with overall responsibility for their own clinical caseload.
- Identify external sources of funding and develop or contribute to funding, correlating with the training and education needs of the multidisciplinary team in relation to ultrasound.
- Disseminate appropriate evidence/research findings and, wherever possible, ensure integration of evidence/research into practice across the organisation.
- Represents the Imaging Division and UoS Ultrasound Hub and Spokes at meetings internally and externally.
- Ensure that all trainee sonographers are sufficiently mentored and supported.
