We are looking to appoint several Consultants within Ageing and Complex medicine either on a Full Time or Part Time basis incorporating flexible job plans that will be negotiated with the individual and OCO.
There may also be opportunities for cross site working within the NCA if this is something candidates are interested in
The successful candidate's will be joining our growing and innovative team which currently comprises:
A frailty team consisting of ACP's, Nurses, Therapist's, prescribing pharmacist and social worker- this team's remit is to identify and reduce LOS for frail patients, identify and onboard onto the virtual ward with the support of the consultants and turn suitable patients around from the A&E department with an MDT in reach supported by the medical teams, working Collaboratively with the community and primary care services.

Main duties of the job
Our Care of the Elderly medics are responsible for providing specialist care to our older patients in inpatient settings, virtual community beds in patients homes and on an in-reach basis. The Trust is also part of the Acute Frailty Network and is currently on an improvement journey to increase and improve the care and outcomes we offer our patients across the Oldham locality.
There is a general medical component to the job, currently a 1 in 12 on call rota, which candidates will be required to contribute to.
The candidates could be involved in many aspects of elderly care including Dementia care, Acute frailty, Movement disorders and recognition and management of acute stroke, and peri-operative medicine services. We would welcome candidates with sub-specialist interest in geriatric medicine and a drive to innovate and develop new services.
The ideal candidate will be innovative, forward thinking, and supportive to developing an all-encompassing integrated service to support the residents of Oldham across primary and secondary care. The Department are also committed to quality improvement projects which can form the basis of publications and presentations at national conferences. In addition to furthering professional development with respect to clinical aspects of geriatric medicine, there will be opportunities in relation to furthering skills as a medical educator in relation to delivering supervision and support for all speciality medicine trainee's and medical students.
