Our Unplanned Healthcare Group is one of the largest at NNUH, comprising a wide variety of specialities. This is your chance to join our Cardiology Team.

Cardiology has a team of professionals excited to welcome you to their areas and support you into post as you find your way in your role!

Cardiology encompasses an 8 bedded coronary care unit which is the PPCI Centre for Norfolk, 37 bedded acute Cardiology Ward, Cardiac Elective area and Angiography suite. Our centre provides some of the latest cardiology interventions in our 5 Cath Labs and is involved in National and International research projects.

Main duties of the job

It is wide ranging from assessing, planning and implementing care for the acute cardiology patients within the hospital to overseeing care post MI, pre and post procedures, heart failure, arrhythmias, pre and post cardiac surgery and more. There is possibility of rotation to have the opportunity to work within all aspects of the department - CCU/Kilverstone Ward/Cardiac Cath Labs - to optimise your skills as a Cardiology nurse.

We offer extended learning such as Band 5 study days which the Trust holds but as a department, we also hold bespoke study/training days on top of your 12 month preceptorship with significant support for career development and pathways.

Your preceptorship and beyond!

Our Practice Development and Education team will be there to support you during your preceptorship period and beyond. We are proud to offer and support all our Newly Qualified Nurses through a comprehensive Preceptorship scheme for a minimum of 12 months.

When you start with us, you will be assigned an appropriately trained preceptor/mentor, who will support and work with you throughout your preceptorship.

We have a specialised two week supernumerary induction programme which will take place in September 2026 (date to be confirmed). This gives you an opportunity to meet the Clinical Educators, get to know the hospital, the NNUH team, attend workshops to facilitate your clinical skills and gives you time in your department. Further to this, there are opportunities to complete a transitional learning needs analysis, access to four bespoke sessions for your continuing professional development (CPD) as part of the Preceptorship Academy and you will have access to the clinical Skills programme with bespoke IV drug administration day for newly qualified nurses.
