Job summary

Respiratory MedicineWe consist of: Respiratory Clinic, Hethel ward, Intwood Ward and Respiratory Investigation Unit.

We are a close-run department and work alongside 9 specialist nurse teams and 12 consultants who each have their own special interests and provide care for several sub-specialties:

Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease, Asthma, Lung Cancer, Cystic Fibrosis, Sleep Medicine, Domiciliary CPAP, Non-Invasive Ventilation (NIV), Bronchiectasis, Interstitial Lung Disease (pulmonary fibrosis), Pulmonary Rehabilitation & Domiciliary Oxygen Therapy, Tuberculosis and Pleural Disease

Within the department we provide investigatory procedures; bronchoscopy and EBUS in RIU these diagnosis respiratory conditions.The Outpatient's department is made up of Registered nurses, Assistant practitioners, and Health Care Assistance who all share responsibility in caring for out-patients attending the clinic.

Main duties of the job

The position of Band 4 Nurse involves being responsible for carrying out assigned tasks involving direct patient care. You are supported and supervised by a Registered Nurse. You are expected to maintain a high standard of quality patient care which we help you to maintain through training opportunities from the department, trust and wider experience. Department works closely with Pleural Specialist Nurse in RIU, assisting with patient interventions. This gives staff the ability to develop new skills and a greater knowledge of respiratory conditions.
