Job summary

We have an exciting opportunity for committed and dedicated individuals to join our highly specialised, busy Critical Care Complex at the Norfolk & Norwich University Hospital.

The Critical Care Complex provides care to patients requiring level 2 and level 3 support from a variety of specialties; post-operative care for major surgeries, organ support for both Medical and Surgical patients and emergencies via the Emergency Department.

We are looking for positive and motivated individuals to join our Healthcare Assistant team.

Main duties of the job

Under the direction and supervision of the Nursing team, the successful candidates will participate as integral members of the team help provide a quality service.

They will support the delivery of a high quality, safe and compassionate healthcare service. All staff are expected to act as a role model to others in all aspects of their work and consistently demonstrate the NNUH's 'PRIDE' values of People focused, Respect, Dedication, Integrity, and Excellence.

Duties and responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:

  • Assist with patient hygiene.
  • To respond appropriately to clinical emergencies to ensure the patient receives appropriate care.
  • To participate in the admission process, under the supervision of the Registered Nurse.
  • Provide and deliver a high standard of individualised personal care.
  • To assist in the preparation of patients and equipment for treatment, investigation or procedures as directed by the Nursing team.
  • To keep the clinical area clean and tidy, maintaining a safe environment.
  • Cleaning and checking of beds, bed spaces and lockers in the patient area following discharge and in preparation for admission.

Due to the 24 hour service provided by the department, you will be required to work fully flexible 12 hour shifts including days, nights, weekends, and bank holidays.
