Main duties of the job

The post involves 10 sessions of which 6-7 will be outpatient clinics.

These clinics vary from general dermatology, skin cancer clinics, minor surgery and specialist clinics. Dermatology does not have dedicated inpatient beds but dermatology patients may be on other wards.

The duties of the Clinical Fellow post also include working with the Core trainees in looking after inpatients. The clinical fellows are on regular on call rota along with the ST3+ resident doctors (once a week frequency usually) holding the emergency bleep between 8am-7pm (weekdays/ bank holidays) and non-residential on call over weekends (Saturday and Sunday), dealing with calls from GPs, ward patients and A&E.

The Dermatology department is also involved in the teaching of the undergraduate medical students for the University of East Anglia. Duties of the clinical fellow include teaching of medical students at the bedside and as part of seminars. Helping with the organisation of the student timetable and teaching sessions is also expected.

The clinical fellow will be expected to attend the weekly skin MDT meeting in which the management of patients with skin cancer is discussed.
