An exciting opportunity has arisen within our Acute and Older Persons Medicine Team. We are looking for an experienced Physiotherapist with a specialist interest in supporting older adults recovering from acute illness.

As a team we are committed to providing Physiotherapy intervention in parallel with medical treatment. The wider multidisciplinary team value our role in assessing patients respiratory function during their hospital journey, informing ongoing acute care planning, alongside our therapeutic skills supporting early mobility and function to manage and prevent deconditioning.

Main duties of the job

Our clinical caseload is varied and embedded in a culture of education, development, and service improvement. Excellent communication skills and a willingness to develop yourself and others around you are essential. In turn this exciting role offers you the opportunity to develop both your clinical and non-clinical skills with access to in-service training and personal development. Weekend working will be required within the role.

As post holder you will:

  • Work within a team of Physiotherapists and Physiotherapy Assistants undertaking a variety of clinical and non-clinical tasks to support the delivery of physiotherapy services to patients with a home first ethos, promoting early mobilisation and function.
  • Support junior and student staff, delegate to junior and assistant staff and have a role in teaching opportunities, including our band 5 induction programme.
  • Have a strong knowledge of frailty and the aging adult, effective communication skills and a drive to provide quality care to our patients.

Part time: 23.5 hours per week
