Job summary

Fixed term contract/ secondment opportunity for 12 months

The Career Development team are a busy team implementing and overseeing various programmes such as Apprenticeships, Work Experience, and Work Employability programmes across the Trust.

We work closely with Trust divisions to support with workforce development through the ultilisation of apprenticeship programmes.

We also work closely with the local community and stakeholders both internal and external, across local NHS Trusts, DWP Job Centre, local schools and colleges to widen access and participation to careers in the NHS which builds upon the diverse workforce at the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will liaise with local schools and colleges across the County to promote NHS careers and opportunities within the NHS. They will organise Continuous Professional Development events for Managers and Teachers and work with local organisations to create and promote NHS Careers including Work Experience and Apprenticeships.

The candidate will be responsible for providing pastoral support to new apprentices at the Trust and will liaise with Managers and local providers to ensure a robust mentoring process is in place to the support the apprentice whilst on programme. They will also provide career advice and guidance to the apprentice, supporting them into next steps following successful completion of their apprenticeship.

  • An individual with excellent IT and data analysis skills

  • In liaison with the Career Development manager offer support and guidance to members of staff undertaking a variety of apprenticeship standards.
  • To be responsible for the mentoring of new apprentices within the Trust. With the support of the Career Development team ensure that a robust mentoring process is in place to support the apprentice and their team.
  • To provide advice and guidance to Managers supporting employees on all Access to Work initiatives
  • To support the implementation and maintenance of the Trusts Work Placement / Experience programmes working to agreed Policies and Procedures.
  • Support a Careers Advice Service on behalf of the Trust in line with the national guidelines
  • Working with higher and Further Education Training Providers to support the Widening Participation Agenda
  • To work effectively with local schools & Colleges to provide work placement opportunities for their students.
  • To liaise with local education providers to agree work experience placements that provide an appropriate range and variety of work experience in line with desired outcomes.
