This is an exciting opportunity to join this department as a full time Senior Clinical Fellow / International Fellow Post in Paediatric and Neonatal Surgery out of program training and service provision. The post holder will be able to gain advanced Paediatric and Neonatal Surgery experience.
Post is initially for 12 months with the possibility of extending a further year.
Main duties of the job
The post of Senior Clinical fellow in Paediatric and Neonatal Surgery will offer an exciting opportunity to develop skills in all aspects of Paediatric general and neonatal surgery with a focused training with the gastro-intestinal team. The senior fellow will have the opportunity to learn intermediate and advanced skills in Paediatric GI laparoscopy and Paediatric diagnostic endoscopy. The senior fellow will participate in a 1:6 non resident on-call rota covering Paediatric & Neonatal Surgery including Paediatric Urology.
The post is suitable for applicants with previous experience in General Paediatric and Neonatal Surgery who wish to have a focused training in Paediatric and Neonatal GI Surgery, at a centre which offers a good balance of adequate exposure/case load and an enjoyable non-resident general pediatric surgical on-call. The centre provides outreach service to 4 DGH in the region and undertakes clinics and theatres sessions at these hospitals regularly. The post will be compliant with current working time directive.
Applicants should possess the qualifications and knowledge specified in the person specification. International trainees are appointed through open competition, selected through the International Surgical Training Program under medical training initiative (MTI) and are supported by the sponsor college for their application for full GMC registration. This program allows the trainees to spend a maximum of 2 years in UK on an ISTP approved training post.
