Job summary
The Radiology department at the Norfolk and Norwich University NHS Hospital is looking for a Band 2 Radiology Support Worker to join our friendly team. The successful candidate will get the opportunity to work across the whole of the Radiology department supporting patient care. This includes within the state-of-the-art Norfolk Centre for Interventional Radiology which opened in September 2020, assisting the Vascular Access Team with inserting vascular access devices and supporting patient care throughout CT, MRI, Ultrasound and Plain Film.
We have an exciting opportunity to become part of a unique team in a highly patient-focused role to collaborate with colleagues on shaping and developing patient service to put us at the cutting edge of Radiology developments as we grow as a team.
Radiology aims to recruit, nurture, and develop talent through our in-house specialist training programs, with supernumerary status for the first four weeks. Radiology Nursing has a dedicated Clinical Nurse Educator, and we often provide teaching sessions for all staff to support skill progression.
We operate a seven day a week service with various shift lengths between the hours of 07:30-20:00, with some weekend commitment as required.
Main duties of the job
Assisting in the care of Radiology patients during the pre and post procedure period by supporting the multidisciplinary team within the whole Radiology department including supporting patient flow through CT, MRI, DEXA and Ultrasound as well as working within the Norfolk Centre for Interventional Radiology (NCIR) and with the Vascular Access Team when inserting vascular access devices.
Transferring patients between the ward and radiology department.
Supporting Radiology and Nursing personnel in providing a safe, high-quality environment for the carrying out of interventional procedures within radiology by:o Assisting in the preparation of the scrub and circulating team in the procedure roomo Assisting the multidisciplinary team during interventional procedureso Assisting in the general upkeep and maintenance of stock levels in the department and ordering as appropriateo Assisting the recovery team in the preparation of the pre and post procedure environmento Providing a safe departmental environment which minimises the risk of infection
