Main duties of the job

The Cellular Pathology department provides service to a large population across Norfolk and Waveney, as part of the Eastern Pathology Alliance. We are based at the Cotman Centre, located walking distance from Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital, the sixth largest Acute Trust in the UK, and the University of East Anglia.

We have a varied professional practise, with nearly 100,000 surgical pathology cases handled annually. The department also provides non-gynaecological cytology services. Staff are encouraged to mix clinical work with undergraduate and postgraduate training and research opportunities. Recent service developments include Prostate AI and state-of-the-art digital pathology technology reporting.

The service is expanding considerably in 2025, meaning there are 5 new posts available for talented and driven individuals to join our diverse and highly experienced team of 27 Consultants and BMS reporters.

  • Full General Medical Council (GMC) registration with a license to practice on Specialist registration or be eligible for registration within six months of interview.
  • Applicants that are UK trained, must ALSO be a holder of a Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT), or be within six months of award of CCT by date of interview
  • Applicants that are non-UK trained, will be required to show evidence of equivalence to the UK CCT
  • FRCPath or equivalent

  • Capable of working in a multi-disciplinary team.
