Job summary

The CSI department is experiencing requests for new services with a strategic plan for expansion to align with the Trust vision and five-year plan. This will result in an increase in the service provision to provide a much-improved environment for patient care, diagnosis and treatment. This will include the implementation of the regions Community Diagnostic Centre, of which there will be four new Canon CT scanners and 5 Siemens MRI scanners. This will be a state-of-the-art Centre with diagnostics increasing their outpatient capacity significantly, this is due to open in February 2025.

The Trust is Head of the Clinical Research Network for the Eastern Region and has one of the three national Radiology Academies.

The post requires a flexible and enthusiastic radiographer to join our friendly team working 12.5-hour shifts providing a 24/7 CT service and an on-call MRI service.

Main duties of the job

The Computed Tomography (CT) Department has five scanners; Siemens Drive and Edge+, newly installed in 2021, Siemens Flash, a Siemens X.Cite, and GE Optima 660 Scanner, providing imaging to over 40,000 patients per year. Our Siemens Flash scanner is due to be upgraded in November 2024, in line with the National Asset Replacement Program. Working within CT provides opportunities to gain excellent experience in a wide range of CT imaging procedures including trauma, MSK, neurological, vascular, perfusion scanning, paediatric, and oncology.

The MRI department consists of four scanners, three located at the NNUH site, close to the city centre (2 x Siemens Sola 1.5T, GE Premier 3T) & one (GE Artist 1.5T) at Cromer District Hospital (CDH) by the North Norfolk coast. Being the largest NHS organisation in East Anglia, a scanner replacement program is in progress to provide outstanding care & modern services to the increasing surrounding population. There is close collaboration with application specialists, research scientists & physicists who evaluate the latest generation of acquisition techniques, providing support, advanced training & protocol optimisation. The department has an active and expanding MRI research profile, supporting the University of East Anglia (UEA) & national & international research groups through the provision of dedicated research and clinical trial capacity.
